On this spring course we will explore the classic alpine rivers Austria provides. Throughout the week we will learn and go over all the skills necessary to dial down the skills to run continuous whitewater safely and with style.

With potential for the last two days on a neighboring river, depending on conditions and the group.
COURSE CONTENT
Day 1

Morning coffee and team briefing: get to know the team, wishes, and goals for the week

Morning flatwater section focusing on paddling mechanics and rolling session

Afternoon on-river Class II section, training paddling mechanics and how they apply to effective river running

Evening team debrief, going through footage of the day
Day 2

Gail River paddling, Class III
-
Adding more precision to technical paddling skills

Learning how to train for Class III in a Class IV environment

Evening debrief, going through footage with the team
Day 3

Gail River paddling, Class III–IV

Learning how to work as a team on the river and run it safely

When to scout / read-and-run skills

Advanced river running skills

Getting in and out of the freight train and creative river thinking
Day 4 / Day 5

We will find appropriate whitewater sections on or around the Gail River, depending on river conditions and the group’s progress during the week
